Kade and Kyla first met in 5th grade at Oak Grove Middle School when all of the elementary schools came together. They didn’t become friends right away, but their paths continued to cross.
In 6th grade, they started talking more. They never had classes together, but they would walk back to homeroom together at the end of the day. Then, in 7th grade, Kyla sat behind Kade in their last English class. Almost every day, they would walk from their last class out to the car line together. Funny enough, their dads, Mike and Joey, would often park beside each other and talk while they waited for them.
After 7th grade, life took them in different directions. Kyla was homeschooled for 8th grade, and Kade moved on to Marmaduke High School. They lost touch for several years and went on to live their own lives.
Then came 2023.
In June, Kyla unexpectedly lost her dad, Mike. Kade reached out through social media to offer his condolences and let her know that if she ever needed anything, he was there for her. What started as a simple message quickly turned into regular conversations, and by September, they decided to go to the Greene County Fair together.
From the very first day they hung out, they were pretty much inseparable.
Since then, they’ve had their ups and downs, but through it all, they have continued to choose each other. They’ve grown together, built a life together, and kept their faith in God at the center of it all.
In September 2024, they bought their property, and by June 2025, with the help and support of both of their families, they had remodeled the house and turned it into their home.
Today, Kade is attending electrician school, while Kyla works at the family sign company and trains horses. They may not have children yet, but between their dogs and horses, their home and their lives are already pretty full.
Kyla can usually be found running her horses around barrels, while Kade enjoys spending his time hunting. Their interests may be different, but somehow, it all fits together.
It’s funny to think that two kids who once walked to the car line together would lose touch, find their way back to one another years later, and end up building a home and a life together.
Looking back, Kade and Kyla truly believe God had a plan for them long before they ever realized it. He brought their paths together all those years ago, brought them back to each other when they needed it most, and has guided them every step of the way.
Now, as they begin this next chapter together, they can’t wait to see where He takes them next.
